New or Returning to Hip hop?
We understand that starting dance classes as an adult can be daunting, especially the idea of joining a class where students have already been taking classes, even if only for a few months. To help you overcome this, we have a 6-week BASICS course. These courses are specifically for adults with little to no dance experience. You can join our BASICS courses comforted in the knowledge that others in the class are also complete novice dancers like you.
The BASICS courses are designed to really break things down to the bare basics. Starting with concepts like posture, the names of the different positions, and how the steps relate to each other. Each course runs for 6-weeks, consisting of one 75-minute class per week. Each class builds on from the class before it (hence why term enrolment is required) teaching the student the core fundamentals of that style. We do not allow casual attendance in this class as attending class sporadically will not enable students to really understand the basics, and develop the skills needed to progress and enjoy a Beginner or Elementary class.
After completing a BASICS course, you will have the skills to give you the confidence to join an Absolute Beginners class, or a standard Beginners/Elementary Class. You can choose to do a BASICS course as many times as you like, until you feel confident enough to progress to another level. We advise that you speak to your teacher regularly to touch base on your progress and see when you will be ready to move up. Please remember that everyone learns differently and at a different pace. It is important not to compare yourself to others, and just be patient with yourself, and trust in the process.

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Chido has been dancing since she was able to walk. Growing up, Chido trained as a Rhythmic Gymnast and competed at a national level for 6 years.
We have a timetable of casual drop-in classes for a variety of levels from Beginners to Advanced dancers in various styles. Dancers are welcome to join these classes at any time without any long term commitment.
We have a full schedule of classes. We run day time classes on Tuesdays – Saturdays from 930am, as well as evening classes on Mondays-Thursday from 530pm.

Hip Hop refers to social or choreographed dance primarily performed to hip hop music that evolved from African-American culture in New York. This includes a wide range of dance styles that can include top rocking, popping, breaking, and locking. It can be loose and relaxed or intense or energetic depending on the music.
On our timetable the “Hip Hop” classes are primarily focused on teaching students a piece of choreography during the class to a specific piece of music. Whereas the Hip Hop Basics class is a “Grooves Foundations” class that focusses primarily on assisting students with rhythm, and free style dancing by teaching students basic moves/steps, which they can then incorporate and ‘make their own’ on the dance floor. These classes are ideal for those looking to gain more confidence on the dance floor in a social setting.
All classes will always begin with a warm up and short stretch. Sometimes the class may involve “drills” or “across the floors” where the students will practice a single step or move over and over again.
