New or Returning to Tap?
We understand that starting dance classes as an adult can be daunting, especially the idea of joining a class where students have already been taking classes, even if only for a few months. To help you overcome this, we have a 6-week BASICS course. These courses are specifically for adults with little to no dance experience. You can join our BASICS courses comforted in the knowledge that others in the class are also complete novice dancers like you.
The BASICS courses are designed to really break things down to the bare basics. Starting with concepts like posture, the names of the different positions, and how the steps relate to each other. Each course runs for 6-weeks, consisting of one 75-minute class per week. Each class builds on from the class before it (hence why term enrolment is required) teaching the student the core fundamentals of that style. We do not allow casual attendance in this class as attending class sporadically will not enable students to really understand the basics, and develop the skills needed to progress and enjoy a Beginner or Elementary class.
After completing a BASICS course, you will have the skills to give you the confidence to join an Absolute Beginners class, or a standard Beginners/Elementary Class. You can choose to do a BASICS course as many times as you like, until you feel confident enough to progress to another level. We advise that you speak to your teacher regularly to touch base on your progress and see when you will be ready to move up. Please remember that everyone learns differently and at a different pace. It is important not to compare yourself to others, and just be patient with yourself, and trust in the process.

Like to make some noise? Then this is your class!
Tap is a form of dance characterized by a tapping sound that is created from metal plates that are attached to both the ball and heel of the dancer’s shoe, making tap shoes the instruments, and the tap dancer the musician creating the tapping sounds complimenting the music.
Made famous by legends like the Nicholas Brothers, Savion Glover, and shows like the Tap Dogs and Happy Feet, tap dancing is timeless dance style that can be enjoyed by anyone of any age. Some of our students started tap dancing as young as 70 years old, and have reaped the rewards improving balance, memory, fitness and as they put it “groove”. It’s never too late to start tap dancing.
